Newport Beach enforces a strict noise ordinance that applies to all residential properties — including vacation rentals. Every Newport Beach Vacations guest receives this information at booking.

What Quiet Hours Mean

After 10:00 PM, the City of Newport Beach requires that noise from residential and vacation rental properties be kept at a level that does not disturb neighboring residences. This includes:

Outdoor conversations and social gatherings must move indoors
Music — whether from speakers, instruments, or devices — must not be audible from the property line
Swimming pools, hot tubs, and outdoor areas must be used quietly
Car stereos must not be audible from the curb
Guests arriving late must enter quietly without disturbing neighbors

Violation Consequences

First violation: Police response, formal warning — potential fine up to $100
Second violation: Fine up to $500 — possible 24-hour vacation rental suspension
Third violation: Fine up to $1,000 — potential SLP permit revocation
Newport Beach Vacations policy: Repeated noise violations may result in immediate termination of stay without refund.
